The Orthodox world celebrates the birth of St. John the Baptist and the Baptist of the Lord, and the people's calendar honors the all-conquering nature.

Rites and Traditions

The popular notion of St. John as patron saint of fraternity and fraternity defines his visits to the godparents. The godparents carry cow, meat, wine. A common meal is made. Ivanovden expires the deadline for New Year's masked troops. In some parts of the country, carols solemnly take the fountain king and bathe him. He then arranges a feast, which is also attended by masked bears, brides, Arabs and other men. In the end, everyone goes out to a festive choir, ending the full cycle of Christmas custom.

On January 7, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church honors the memory of St. John the Baptist - the last Old Testament prophet and baptist of Jesus. The holiday is also known as Ivanovden. John the Baptist was also called "Baptist" because he walked before Christ and prepared people for his birth. His preaching for repentance and baptism, for the cleansing of sins in preparation of the Jews for the coming of Christ, gives him an extraordinary place among evangelicals. A fighter for high morality and righteousness, John condemned the ruler of Galilee, Herod Antipas. He was later beheaded at his behest.
