A green wall for an amazing atmosphere
In recent years, more and more people have returned to their roots and sought a connection with their ancestors and the land. Therefore, it is logical that natural materials and decorations with plants are extremely popular in the interior at the moment. Moss walls are also a current trend that is recommended by many of the most famous designers.
There are several types of green walls:
from artificial moss.

They are a great alternative for people who can't afford to make a big investment or are worried that natural moss needs maintenance. Such walls, although the moss looks like the real thing, are artificial. This means they don't have the many benefits of Nordic moss.
If you are not familiar with its features and advantages, we advise you to read our previous article. In it you will learn why more and more designers and florists recommend it.
Still, artificial moss is a perfect imitation. If you like this look, you can bet on this option.
from preserved Scandinavian moss.
Preserved moss is closer to natural than artificial. This is actually a natural moss that is no longer alive. It has been carefully preserved and processed using a special technique with glycerin. Thus, its properties change – it does not breathe and no longer needs natural light, but it can be used for various decorative purposes. Moreover, it retains its look and feel of being touched by nature. It does not require any maintenance and depending on how you take care of it, it can last for many years without changing its appearance.
from natural Scandinavian moss.
These walls are a bit different than vertical gardens. The main difference comes from moss being a hardy plant that can thrive in a variety of environments. In contrast, each type of plant has specific characteristics and requirements that you must take into account.
Another advantage is that natural moss is easier to handle. This means it can be used to create different shapes and arrangements. The peculiarity is that the walls require little maintenance, but you still need to take care of them. For example - they will need watering, fertilizing and access to natural light so they don't wilt.
An interesting fact about natural moss is that it has no roots and lacks water-conducting tissues. It has special formations through which it can absorb water and moisture up to 20 times its own weight. This makes it an ideal solution for rooms with high humidity when you are looking for a way to prevent mold and mildew from forming.
If properly cared for, a natural moss wall can exceed 25 years of life.

Which option to choose?
Our florists recommend preserved and natural Scandinavian moss. The reason is that they have a natural origin and are extremely resistant to any conditions. When you use them for a wall, arrangement or art installation, they will help you completely transform your idea in the best way. With them, the vision of the interior space and the acoustics of the room will be improved.
Preserved and natural moss walls are suitable for people who want to fully enjoy the beauty of nature. They seek her peace and want to return to the past and discover their roots and ancestors.
If you are planning to make a green wall at home or in the office, the first step is to think about how much care you can give it. Canned moss is a good option for people who do not have enough time to care for natural moss.
Preserved moss is ideal for an indoor green wall as it comes in many different varieties and colors that you can choose from or even mix and match. After you make the arrangement, it will not need maintenance - watering, access to natural light and more.

If it is a wall in a sunroom, in the yard or outside, natural moss is the best solution. There are many varieties of natural Scandinavian moss that you can choose from to create the perfect decoration.
Remember, it will require minimal maintenance from you, but the end result is so great that it's worth the effort.
In both cases, you can decorate the green wall with various accessories - dried twigs, wood, dried seed pods, mushrooms and many others. Thus, you will add a little detail to the texture and create a real masterpiece at home, in the office or outside.
Of course, if you decide to add living accessories to the wall, they will require some maintenance.
And yet, natural moss doesn't have the inconvenience of constant maintenance that traditional plants will require of you.
How to make a green wall yourself at home?
Building a moss wall is not as difficult as it seems, especially when you have the right tools and equipment available.
You need:
- Staple gun;
- Silicone gun and refills;
- A piece of plywood cut to the desired shape and frame;
- Scandinavian moss - canned or natural;
- Additional accessories - on request.
Here's how to make your own green wall:

Step 1: Assemble your frame.
Cut the plywood to the desired size and then place it on the back of the frame. Secure it using the stapler. The plywood (back) and frame will be your base for the green wall.
Step 2: Add the moss.
Time for the fun part to begin! Use the silicone gun to glue the moss pieces to the plywood. Be careful while working. Arrange them in the desired sequence and use the colors that match your interior. Be creative and don't be afraid to be bold with your arrangement. You can also use the accessories by mixing them with the moss.
Step 3: Use the accessories.
If you haven't used accessories in the main arrangement, now is the time to do so. With them you will add additional texture to the wall. Dried wood, leaves or a mushroom would be suitable. Now it's time to glue them to your artwork.
Step 4: Test if everything is OK.
Wait for the glue to dry. Then shake the frame to see if there are any parts that haven't fit properly. If you notice any hanging elements, now is the time to glue them back to the plywood.
Step 5: All that's left is to maintain your green wall!
If you have used live moss for your wall, you will need to water it at least once a week using a spray bottle. Don't forget to constantly check that the wall is getting enough sunlight daily!
